Iain Curtis

Iain is a Charted Engineer, a Member of Institution of Civil Engineers and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. In a career spanning over 20 years he has moved from construction and engineering based roles to positions that involve technical development and implementation of technology solutions in the construction sector.

After graduation Iain was employed by John Laing Construction starting of as an Engineer, firstly on site, then laterly in the design and technical services offices. Iain worked on a varied array of construction projects including Office Blocks and Hotels, and on structural design of houses and flats together with infrastructure design of housing estates for Laing Homes. Iain then spent 3 years working in the specialised field of monitoring and testing of structures.  During this time he became a Chartered Engineer and also completed a post graduate degree in Marketing and became a Member of the Chartered Institue of Marketing. With this new knowledge and expertise, together with his engineering and construction experience, he has written and presented many technical papers at major Civil Engineering, Structural and Bridge conferences.

The most recent period of his employment as been spent in the technology and software sector specialising in product development and implementation of technology based solutions in construction. During this period he has used all the skills developed over his career to analyse business processes, establish high-level designs for solutions together with the development of change management initiatives to enable successful implementations of the solutions created and thus ensure clients optimise their returns in investment in their chosen technologies.

Iain has industry leading experience and expertise in the area of eCommerce in construction. He has been involved in the development and subsequent implementation of the eCommerce solutions that are offered by the industry leading COINS software system. COINS lead the way in eTrading relationships within the construction sector and Iain has been at the forefront in the development of the services that both COINS and the COINS-etc HUB offer to the industry. This places Iain as an industry expert in all facets of eCommerce within the sector and has industry leading experience in the implementation of live trading relationships.
