South West Highways

South West Highways, based just outside Exeter in Devon, have a number of Highway Maintenance framework contracts in both Devon and Cornwall. A joint venture company, between Ringway Ltd and Colas Ltd, to provide specialist highway based services to the Counties of Devon and Cornwall, SWH have grown year on year and are now undertaking work from various clients outside the local authorities.

SWH have employed BITC to project manage the implementation of various parts ot their enterprise system including:

• Reporting - SWH have commissioned BITC to produce a reporting solution that combines data from their COINS system and external spreadsheets.  eAnalyser will provide Cost & Value reports at the press of a button whereas previously the information would have taken a range of personnel and a plethora of spreadhseets to generate.
• eCommerce - roll out the first 7 suppliers identified by the busines for eTrading. SWH, although being a relatively small business in construction terms, have embraced the new developments in technology and are actively using various tools available to them to streamline their business. To date SWH are live with 6 suppliers receiving eInvoices, with full end to end electronic ordering, GRNing and invoicing currenlty in the pipeline to be rolled out in the near future.
• Plant Manager Solution - SWH operate their own fleet of vehicles including company cars and working vehicles. They also hire in numerous vehecles and items of plant in their day to business. BITC are helping SWH implement the Plant Manager solution that is part of the COINS suite of solutions. The project will involve both the management of internal vehicles and plant together with the exteranlly hired items needed for the business.
